Funding Cuts

BEST VALUE - NEW DRAFT STATUTORY GUIDANCE

The Department for Communites and Local Government has issued draft guidance, to set out clear expectations for when councils consider cutting funding to local voluntary and community organisations.

Many CFG members receiving statutory funding have expressed concern about the way cuts are being administered at a local level.  At the NCVO Annual Conference, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles MP, called on local authories to act reasonably when making cuts to charity sector funding - a message reflected in the new guidance.

VOLUNTARY SECTOR CUTS WEBSITE

Voluntary Sector Cuts is a new collaborative project between a number of sector bodies which maps intelligence about charities and voluntary groups experiencing reductions in public sector funding.

If you are involved with a charity which has been told its statutory funding will be reduced, you can log details on the website to be shared with others.  Please note that this data will be publicly accessible - the website provides an address for submitting anonymous examples.

CFG SUBMISSION TO THE COMPREHENSIVE SPENDING REVIEW

CFG has submitted a response to the CSR asking the Government to work in partnership with the sector in order to actively seek ways it can aid voluntary organisations in creating sustainable futures.
