The CFG Annual Conference is the must-attend event of the year for all finance professionals in the charity sector, and we are delighted to announce the programme for 2012.
This year marks our 25th Anniversary and though the sector has faced many challenges and changes over the past 25 years, we are proud to have provided support and guidance to our membership and beyond.
The organisation has grown and developed, the support we have given and continue to give is constantly adapting to your ever changing needs and our membership has diversified to embrace all those with responsibility for finance matters - whatever their job title. We’re delighted to be at the heart of inspiring financial leadership.
Once again we have put together a varied programme with a blend of technical updates, thought provoking debate, networking opportunities and time to explore a 40-strong marketplace of suppliers and services. As usual there are five seminar streams offering something for everyone - interspersed with three stimulating, challenging and engaging plenary sessions and, new this year, a whole session of workshops to help you interactively get under the skin of your chosen topic.
In addition to the 25 sessions for you to choose from, the 3 plenary sessions are sure to provide plenty of food for thought, both answering and creating further questions for us all to ponder. The programme kicks off with an insight from a true financial leader - a man who made the transition, so often seen in the private sector but less frequently present with charities, from FD to CEO. Mark Watts will help us reflect on how far the modern finance professional has come and the qualities we now see. Before lunch Andrew Sentence CBE, from PwC (and until recently a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee) will give his thoughts on the economic outlook for the sector, and closing the day Andrew Hind CB, Editor of Charity Finance, founding member of CFG and former CEO of the Charity Commission will look at the last 25 years in the sector with a forward glance to what the future holds for us all.
We have again responded to your feedback and given you a series of break-out sessions on everything from technical updates, strategic thinking and organisational considerations, governance and legal elements and of course focusing on leadership and multi-tasking! We have called upon experts from the sector and beyond to share their experiences and prompt you to think and behave differently.
During the breaks throughout the day you can explore the exhibition area, where exhibitors working in a range of service areas will be available for you to meet, discuss ideas and answer questions in an informal and relaxed setting.
Delegates attending the conference are invited to the reception immediately following the conference, where you can network and discuss the day’s hot-topics with your peers, speakers, exhibitor organisations and CFG staff.
There will be an exhibition alongside the conference programme. Exhibitors working in a range of service areas will be available for delegates to meet, ask questions, and share information.
The informal setting is an excellent opportunity to find products and service suppliers who can assist in tackling your charity’s problems and who can help to make the management of your charity more efficient. The conference timetable allows delegates plenty of opportunity to browse the exhibition stands during breaks.
