Practical VAT Tax Savings Tips Seminar

Thursday, 5 Jun 2014, 08:30 - 13:45

This event is kindly sponsored by:

Charities are generally subject to the same VAT rules as any other organisation. However, unlike other organisations, many charities provide services that are either exempt from VAT or outside the scope VAT, which means that they cannot reclaim VAT costs on purchases. It is estimated that irrecoverable VAT costs charities between £400 and £500 million a year, and this has a direct effect on your charity's surplus.

There are a number of VAT reliefs and exemptions available specifically for charities, subject to certain conditions and restrictions. Navigating your way around these rules and how it might apply to your charity is not always easy. Based on member feedback, CFG has replaced the annual Tax conference with two half day seminars, focusing on practical tax issues affecting finance professionals and their advisers. This first half day event will give you an understanding of the different methods available for reclaiming VAT on purchases and how your charity might be able to take advantages of these reliefs and exemptions in key areas of activity such as fundraising, membership, property, contracts and grants. It will also provide you with an in insight into future VAT developments including the latest on EU developments.
