Overview

Cloud computing is a big trend within the not-for-profit sector allowing organisations to work in a more efficient way. The Think Cloud Computing training course will address key themes and trends from the world of cloud computing, providing an open view of its pros and cons.

This training course will not be highly technical and will pay special attention on the cost implications and implementation of cloud computing.

Topics covered are:

  • Definition and types of cloud
  • Cost including CapEx vs OpEx 
  • Security
  • Data protection 
  • Aspects to take into account before moving to the cloud, during and in case of leaving or changing provider 
  • Examples of what can go wrong and how to solve it


By the end of this course, attendees will:

  • Understand the pros and cons of moving to the cloud 
  • Be able to identify which cloud is best for their organisation, including the costs associated with it 
  • Understand the process they have to follow when adopting this technology


Who is the session aimed at? 

This course is ideal for both existing users of cloud, who want to keep up to date and those considering using cloud, who want to understand more about it. Especially designed for CEOs and FCOs who are either the decision maker or heavily involved in the decision making process.

Peter has worked with over 70 NFP organisations over the last 15 years, primarily implementing Private Cloud solutions. Peter’s areas of expertise include business requirement analysis and preparing a business case for Cloud Computing and IT outsourcing.

  • David Broome, Resources Director, Trinitarian Bible Society

David joined the Trinitarian Bible Society as Finance Director in early 2010 after more than 20 years in local government in Wiltshire, where he held a variety of senior finance and management roles, including IT responsibilities.  He became the Society’s Resources Director in early 2011, when he gained responsibility for all its support services, including IT.  Since then the Society has been working through a programme of modernising its computer hardware, software and infrastructure, including the move to the IAAS cloud solution provided by Node4.

Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.

CFG reserves the right to cancel any event two weeks prior to the event date. You will be entitled to a full refund or given the opportunity to transfer to an alternative date. However we regret that we cannot refund any travel or accommodation costs incurred by delegates. CFG accepts no liability if an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our reasonable control resulting from an act of God, governmental regulation, fire, war, terrorist activity or civil commotion.

It may be necessary for reasons beyond our control to change the date, time or the venue at any time prior to the event date. If this occurs you will be informed of changes and given the opportunity to cancel or transfer to an alternative date.
