Overview

November’s Finance in Grant-making meeting focuses on two key areas:

Firstly, how trusts and foundations can make the application process as smooth as possible for grantees in smaller charities.

When charities understand process and are clear about the information and resources they need, the application is smoother and both parties benefit.

The second half of the afternoon will be a review of CFG’s Small Charities Programme, which was launched at the start of 2017. We have invited a small charity to speak to delegates about the experiences of working with funders, looking at the positive experiences as well as the challenges.

Session 1: Working with smaller charities

A grantmaker will give their perspectives on working with  small charities, looking at the opportunities and  challenges, and how they’ve had to adapt their processes and offer additional services to accommodate the limited resources of grantees.

Session 2: Charity Finance Group (CFG) Small Charities Programme 

Over six months in 2017 , CFG delivered  a Small Charities Programme that provided basic financial training throughout the UK to staff or volunteers working in small charities.

1,000 training places were taken up and the resulting evaluation gave us some really valuable insight.

Andrew O'Brien presents findings from the evaluation and feedback, and looks at how, together, we can work more effectively with small charities in the future.

Terms and Conditions:

Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.

CFG reserves the right to cancel any event two weeks prior to the event date. You will be entitled to a full refund or given the opportunity to transfer to an alternative date. However we regret that we cannot refund any travel or accommodation costs incurred by delegates. CFG accepts no liability if an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our reasonable control resulting from an act of God, governmental regulation, fire, war, terrorist activity or civil commotion.

It may be necessary for reasons beyond our control to change the date, time or the venue at any time prior to the event date. If this occurs you will be informed of changes and given the opportunity to cancel or transfer to an alternative date.

CFG reserves the right to amend the content of the programme or the speakers where necessary without consulting booked delegates.
