Chief Executive to leave CFDG

13th September 2005

After over eleven years with the Charity Finance Directors' Group Shirley Scott will be leaving at the end of the year. The Group is firmly established as the leading organisation providing advice and guidance on all aspects of the finance director’s role, to individuals working in charities and to government, accounting bodies and the wider voluntary sector.

Shirley Scott says “I am proud of what CFDG has achieved and the part I have been privileged to play in its success. It is poised to enter a new phase of development and, with so many exciting opportunities emerging in the sector, it is an appropriate time for me to move on. I hope there will still be a role for me in CFDG but I want to use my knowledge and skills elsewhere in the sector too, working more closely with charities and trustees. I have some ideas about my next steps and will use the next few months to identify opportunities. It’s a bit scary right now but I know this is the right decision for me and CFDG.”

Paul Breckell, Chair of the CFDG Trustees and Finance Director of the Church Mission Society says “Shirley has made a tremendous contribution to the growth and development of CFDG, she joined at a very early stage of the Group’s development and will leave it well established as the leading body for financial management in the charity sector. I wish Shirley every success in all that she does in the future. I also look forward to taking CFDG further in 2006, with a new Chief Executive, building on the firm foundations that Shirley has put in place.”
