Charities focusing on value of IT

13th January 2006

The value of IT will be in the spotlight at the Charity Finance Directors’ Group’s IT Conference on the 22 February 2006 in London. The event will focus on the value of IT for charities - both in the sense of cost and in the sense of principles - and bring together charity IT and finance experts.
With tight resources charities’ IT use has to be justified by measurable benefits. What is the actual value of IT? Can it be measured? Sessions at the conference will look at value from different angles. In terms of cost value, issues investigated will be the business case for IT and resource lifecycle planning. In terms of values, there will be presentations dealing with communications, social inclusion and environmental aspects with regard to IT implementation.

David Membrey, CFDG’s Acting Chief Executive says “We are thrilled to have Michael Jackson, who is one of the most successful business figures in the country, as the keynote speaker. There’s also a good this mix of high profile corporate and charity sector speakers who we expect to bring different angles to the questions discussed. Our charity speakers come from such high profile charities such as Christian Aid, WWF and Amnesty International.”

The conference is open to both CFDG members and non-members as the conference themes are of wider interest to the sector. CFDG specifically invites IT and Finance people to attend in conjunction with a colleague.

Membrey adds “Over the last few years, this conference has proven to be a meeting place for Finance and IT Executives and Chief Executives alike, gaining added value from the exchange of views in such a mixed audience.”

The event is supported by CFDG subscriber company Touchstone and by Fujitsu Siemens.
