CFDG makes time for tax

5th January 2010

The Charity Finance Directors’ Group will be holding its inaugural Tax Conference on 3rd February, in association with Horwath Clark Whitehill and the Charity Tax Group.

David Membrey, CFDG’s Acting Chief Executive says, “Tax is consistently a key issue for our members, so we are delighted to be launching this conference with the kind support of Horwath Clark Whitehill. Charities’ budgets are tightening, public spending is set to decrease and HM Revenue and Customs are more than ever looking to maximise tax revenues; it is imperative that charities keep on top of their tax.”

The conference will be chaired by Pesh Framjee, Head of the Not for Profit unit at Horwath Clark Whitehill and Special Advisor to CFDG. Framjee says “tax is a complex and ever-evolving issue for the sector, and we believe this timely tax conference will be of great benefit to all charity finance professionals.”

The conference will feature an opening session on European developments and the implications for UK charities, from Helen Donoghue, Director of the Charity Tax Group. This will be followed by sessions from Horwath Clark Whitehill’s experts in charity VAT, direct taxation and employment taxation, and there are also speakers from HM Revenue & Customs and the charity sector.

The conference will be held at the offices of Horwath Clark Whitehill in London, from 9am – 5pm with a reception to follow.
