Charity Finance Group unveils new name

27th February 2012

On Wednesday 29th February, the Charity Finance Directors' Group will launch its new name which aims to better reflect its broader role in inspiring financial leadership in charities and supporting all those with responsibility for charity finance.

The move coincides with CFG’s 25th anniversary. Caron Bradshaw, CEO said; "As we reflect on 25 years of sector changes we can see just how different the role of and environment for charity finance professionals is. We believe the time is right to change our name to reflect the diversity of the people we support – and the breadth and depth of what we do. Our new identity is a natural evolution for us, reflecting our role in raising the standards of charity finance and supporting all those with responsibility for charity finance irrespective of their title. Whether you are a trustee, employee or volunteer, if you are responsible for financial management and leadership – our message is that ‘we’re here for you’.

Our new ‘describer’, Inspiring financial leadership, signals our future ambitions – to work with charity professionals, corporate suppliers of services, regulators and government in encouraging all the players to operate at the leading edge of charity management.

During 2012 our focus will be on supporting the development of financial capability and financial leadership in the sector, and on understanding and reporting on impact. We will continue our work to drive up standards and ensure the effective use of every pound given to charity."

Also new for the 25th anniversary year are changes to the CFG membership scheme. From the 1 April 2012 every member charity will have the opportunity to have one free ‘secondary’ member in addition to its existing “paid for” primary member. Further additional members can be added at a substantially discounted fee. Free secondary, and all additional members receive exactly the same benefits of membership as the primary member – this way even more of a charity’s finance team can benefit from CFG’s services and support for finance professionals.
